Birds Sunbathing At Lake Merritt: Photo Of The Day
These birds were soaking in the warmth of the morning sun.

EAST BAY — Monday morning brought glorious sunshine to the East Bay. Francesca Austin snapped this photo and tells Patch, "a pelican and a flock of cormorants sunning themselves near the Lake Merritt Bridge near Oakland Museum. This Bridge was renovated a few years ago, and the whole section of the estuary which flows back and forth to the canal at Jack London Square was dredged to deepen and widen it, increasing the volume of water coming into Lake Merritt from San Francisco Bay. The sea birds truly enjoy coming here for their daily breakfast, lunch and dinner!"
And we truly appreciate you sharing your photo and information, Francesca!
If you have an awesome photo of nature, breath-taking scenery, kids caught being kids, a pet doing something funny or something unusual you happen to catch with your camera, we'd love to feature it on Patch.
