San Mateo, California – Students, faculty, staff, neighbors and other community members are invited to attend a series of campus safety forums being held in the San Mateo County Community College District (SMCCCD) Tuesday, Sept. 13 through Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016. Part of the Public Safety Services Study that began earlier this year, 15 forums, or five on each College campus, will be held to engage participants in critical discussions about campus safety best practices and challenges. Participants will be able to voice their concerns and offer suggestions in person, via social media (#SMCCCD #Forums16) or by submitting a confidential survey (available via http://bit.ly/2bwpfF9).

“We are a welcoming community and we want to ensure that members of each campus community and our neighbors have a chance to participate in this important process,” said SMCCCD Executive Vice Chancellor Kathy Blackwood, the spokeswoman for the Public Safety Services Study Committee. “We’ve planned special sessions for students, faculty, staff and community members, but anyone who is interested can attend any session that is convenient. The information gathered will be analyzed to become part of a report that we’re due to deliver to the Board of Trustees in December.”

A full schedule of the Campus Safety Open Forums and locations is available in the Calendar section of the Study website. Forums are being held at 8:30 AM, 10:30 AM, 12:30 PM, 3:30 PM and 5:30 PM on the following campuses: Caῆada College, Sept. 13; College of San Mateo, Sept. 14; Skyline College, Sept. 15.
