Managed by the San Mateo Resource Conservation District with Measure K funding, the work aims to protect Midcoast evacuation routes and nearby neighborhoods while improving native habitat along this busy coastal corridor.
   

2. State Coastal Conservancy Awards $1M to San Mateo County to Undertake Half Moon Bay Landfill Climate Resilience Planning Project (coastsidebuzz.com) — San Mateo County has secured up to $1 million from the State Coastal Conservancy to plan climate resilience and cleanup work at the Half Moon Bay landfill near Poplar Beach. The grant will fund technical studies, community engagement, and early design and permitting plans that could improve public safety and expand coastal recreation options for county residents, including those from San Mateo.
   

3. San Mateo County plans CHP patrols to crack down on speeding along La Honda roads (cbsnews.com) — San Mateo County Supervisor Ray Mueller plans to fund a dedicated CHP officer to curb dangerous speeding on La Honda's winding roads, including Highway 84. Prompted by crashes and social media–driven racing, the proposal would route county grant money through Woodside to CHP, aiming to reduce serious collisions on popular weekend routes used by many San Mateo drivers.
   

4. Aptos shuts out Soquel, stays unbeaten in SCCAL flag football action (santacruzsentinel.com) — San Mateo sports fans will notice Cabrillo's men's water polo and women's volleyball teams both competing in town, with a narrow 16-14 polo loss and straight-set volleyball defeats at the San Mateo Tri. The broader roundup highlights recent high school and college flag football, soccer, volleyball, and water polo results around the Central Coast, plus several upcoming matchups local followers can track.
