San Mateo County Reports 44 New Coronavirus Cases, No Deaths

There were 60 COVID-19 patients hospitalized in San Mateo County as of Thursday, of which 13 were being treated in intensive care units.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — San Mateo County Health reported 44 additional coronavirus cases Thursday.

The latest report brings the countywide COVID-19 case count to 3,787.

The county reported no additional coronavirus-related fatalities Thursday, leaving its death toll at 111.

Elsewhere in the Bay Area and beyond, San Francisco Mayor London Breed has tested negative for COVID-19 after she was recently exposed to the virus, she announced Thursday afternoon.

On Wednesday, Breed announced she would be limiting public events for the next 10 days after she learned she attended an event where someone who had tested positive for COVID-19 was also in attendance.

The city of Alameda will re-stripe a segment of Park Street this week to cordon off space for outdoor dining and shopping during the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, city officials said Wednesday.

City workers will re-stripe Park Street on Thursday and Friday creating two lanes instead of four between Tilden Way and Encinal Avenue to allow space for restaurant patrons, shoppers and others to maintain physical distance from one another to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

The city of Santa Clara's Parks and Recreation Department will reopen city park restrooms on Thursday. The city is implementing a cleaning and sanitizing regimen that uses two different disinfecting treatments to protect from COVID-19 transmissions.

There were 284,692 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 6,577 coronavirus-related deaths in California as of Thursday afternoon according to data from Johns Hopkins University.

The United States had 3,035,231 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 132,041 coronavirus-related fatalities as of Thursday afternoon.
