Smoke Drifts Into San Mateo County From Moose Fire
The 225-acre blaze is near Hopland in Mendocino County. The poor air quality could last for several days, officials said.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — San Mateo County is experiencing drift smoke, that could persist for days, from a fire underway in Mendocino County, the 225-acre Moose Fire near the community of Hopland, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office.
"The smell of smoke will be present throughout the county and may last for several days," officials said.
The Moose Fire broke out Monday evening and, as of Tuesday morning, was at 25 percent containment, CalFire said. One firefighter was injured battling the blaze, 10 structures are threatened and some evacuations ordered.

No anticipated containment date was given for the vegetation fire, and its cause is under investigation, according to the agency.
San Mateo County residents who are physically affected by the smell and air quality are advised to curtail outdoor activities and remain inside to reduce exposure.
