Robber Caught Near Marin National Night Out Event: Sheriff

MARIN COUNTY, CA – A man who allegedly robbed the Palace Market in Point Reyes Station didn't get far on foot Tuesday evening with Marin County sheriff's deputies holding their annual National Night Out community event nearby.

Deputies were preparing for the celebration around 5 p.m. when a 911 caller reported a strong-arm robbery and assault at the market at 11300 Shoreline Highway.

The store is located about 150 yards from the sheriff's substation in Point Reyes Station, sheriff's Sgt. Brenton Schneider said.

After allegedly stealing items and assaulting a cashier, the suspect fled the store as another employee chased after him. Deputies joined the chase toward Toby's Feed Barn at 11250 Shoreline Highway.

The suspect, identified as David Bransford Parker, 67, of San Rafael, was taken into custody after a brief struggle. After Parker was taken to the Marin County Jail, deputies returned to the National Night Out celebration, according to the sheriff's office.

    Parker was booked into the jail under $50,000 bail on suspicion of felony robbery and misdemeanor resisting and obstructing an officer.

    The cashier was not injured, Palace Market store director Carlos Castellanos said.
