Another Coronavirus Death As County Cases Surpass 1,500 In Marin

MARIN COUNTY, CA — Another coronavirus-related death was reported Tuesday as COVID-19 cases surpassed 1,500 in Marin County.

Public health officials reported 29 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, bringing the county's case count to 1,512. Another death was reported, which raised the death toll to 20.

These numbers don't include cases at San Quentin State Prison. As of Tuesday, there were 1,369 active cases at the prison.

Overall, 70 people have been hospitalized due to the virus since Marin's first COVID-19 case was reported on March 8. Thirty-seven people were hospitalized Tuesday.

To date, the majority of confirmed cases have been residents younger than 49 years old, while the majority of hospitalizations and deaths have been residents older than 50 years old, according to county data. The majority of confirmed cases, hospitalizations and deaths have occurred among residents who are male and of white, Hispanic or Asian race/ethnicity.

A total of 34,406 COVID-19 tests have been conducted in Marin. There have been 1,096documented recoveries, according to the county.
