Body Found In Tomales Bay ID'd As Tomales Bay Oyster Co. Owner
Charles "Tod" Friend 70, of Oakland, was found by a group of people who continued to look for him after a multi-agency search was suspended.
MAIRN COUNTY, CA – The Marin County coroner confirmed Sunday that a body found Saturday in Tomales Bay is that of Charles "Tod" Friend, the owner of Tomales Bay Oyster Co., a sheriff's spokesman said.
Friend's body was brought to Marconi Point around 2 p.m. Saturday after it was found floating in the bay, Marin County sheriff's spokesman Lt. Doug Pittman said.
Friend, 70, of Oakland, was found by a group of people who continued to look for him after a multi-agency search was suspended Wednesday. Friend was last seen around 3:15 p.m. Tuesday.

An employee of Marshall-based Hog Island Oyster Co. saw Friend's boat going in a circle with no sign of Friend aboard, according to the sheriff's office.
The U.S. Coast Guard, National Park Service, a Marin County Search and Rescue team and the sheriff's dive team searched for Friend Tuesday and Wednesday.

The official search was called off Wednesday, but friends and family continued to look for him, according to Pittman.
Investigators believe Friend was not wearing a life vest and fell off his boat.
"We are deeply saddened by his loss but also heartened by the outpouring of love from all of our extended family and friends," a post on Friend's Facebook page said Saturday before the coroner confirmed his death.
