Deputy Rescues Owl Struck By Car In Marin County

The owl was taken to WildCare in San Rafael.

MARIN COUNTY, CA – A deputy helped rescue an owl that was struck by a car Tuesday night in Marin County.

The deputy from the Marin County Sheriff's Office was working in the community of Bolinas, just south of Point Reyes Station, when he spotted a car in the middle of the road with its flashers on. The deputy stopped to check on the vehicle and saw an owl in the road.

"The owl probably saw prey and swooped to grab dinner but was struck by a vehicle," officials from the Marin County Sheriff's Office said on social media. "The vehicle with its flashers had come upon the bird, stopped and turned their flashers on hoping to provide some safety, and luckily, the deputy happened along."
