Fundraiser For Woman Killed Crossing The Street In Marin County Started
The 19-year-old woman was struck and killed by a car in a crosswalk, police said.
SAN RAFAEL, CA – A fundraiser has been started to help the family of the 19-year-old woman killed while crossing the street last week in San Rafael.
On Jan. 14, Lucia Jennifer Blandina Sontay Vicente was killed when she was struck by a car while crossing the street near the intersection of Summit Avenue and Point San Pedro Road in San Rafael.
A member of the community who knows Vicente’s aunt Martha Betty Vicente has started a fundraiser after learning Martha’s sister Raquel had lost her daughter in this incident.

“A young life full of promise was taken far too soon, leaving behind a family overwhelmed with grief and heartbreak,” wrote Mona Delank-Baker on the GoFundMe's page.
Delank-Baker said they are raising funds to ease some of the financial burden the family is facing, including funeral expenses.

“During this incredibly painful time, Martha is doing her best to support her family emotionally and financially, while carrying a level of sorrow no one should have to bear alone,” she said. “Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference and will be received with deep gratitude.”
Police confirmed the driver involved in the incident remained uninjured and has not been arrested at this time.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision is ongoing.
