Wilson Hot, Other Trojans Not in Basketball Loss

FRIDAY'S SCORE: Marin Catholic 50, 33.

TERRA LINDA'S RECORD: 9-8 overall, 2-3 in MCAL.

GAME SUMMARY: Just like in its loss to Tamalpais on Tuesday, Terra Linda fell behind by 10 points in the first half. And, once again, the Trojans' second-half rally fell short -- but this time it fell way short against a coldly efficient Marin Catholic team that remained undefeated in Marin County Athletic League play.

This sequence pretty much summed it up: Trailing 27-17 at halftime, Terra Linda got a 3-pointer to start the second half by , who led the Trojans with eight points. The stands were starting to fill up in anticipation of the boys' varsity game, and the crowd was poised to get behind a Terra Linda rally.

But Marin Catholic got a 3-pointer of its own -- both teams had three in the game -- on its next possession and pulled away from there.

The Trojans couldn't keep up despite seven points from and five from .

REACTION: "They just ran everything to perfection," Terra Linda coach said. "They've been running that system (setting a series of screens to free up shooters) for four years. We went over a couple of their plays in practice for a half-hour, and it really didn't do much good. Even if we defensed it correctly, they'd run a double screen and get a 3-pointer."

So where do the Trojans go from here? Corby gave them the weekend off and hopes they can come back refreshed against San Rafael, which is winless in league play.

TERRA LINDA'S NEXT GAME: Tuesday at home against San Rafael, 6 p.m.
