Police Arrest Bank Robbery Suspect In San Rafael Alcohol Sting

SAN RAFAEL, CA – Police arrested a bank robbery suspect during an alcohol sales sting a day after the heist in San Rafael.

According to the San Rafael Police Department, Cedric Ray Vincent was booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of robbery.

The bank robbery occurred Friday morning at the Westamerica branch on Mitchell Boulevard in San Rafael. According to officials, witnesses said the suspect presented a demand note, but no weapons were used or mentioned by the suspect. The suspect then fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

At about 11:30 a.m. Saturday, police were conducting a sting targeting alcohol sales to minors on B Street in downtown San Rafael.

During the operation, officers stopped and talked to three suspects in a parking lot. According to officials, based on a video surveillance photo, one of the suspects looked like the person who robbed the bank.

The suspect was identified as Vincent, a 21-year-old from San Rafael, who was recently paroled from prison for a robbery sentence.

Vincent agreed to go to the San Rafael Police Department for questioning and was arrested on suspicion of robbery. He allegedly was carrying money used as bait in the alcohol sting operation.

Officers released the two other people with Vincent.
