San Rafael Motorcyclist Allegedly Zips By Cops At 114 mph On Hwy 101

The man, with multiple prior speeding tickets and a suspended license, was arrested, CHP said.

California Highway Patrol officers arrested a San Rafael man for allegedly speeding along a mile-long section of southbound U.S. Highway 101 near Petaluma this weekend.

Six officers were stationed between Railroad Avenue and Petaluma Boulevard North in the area of Highway 101 to catch speeders on Saturday.

An officer saw a Suzuki motorcycle approaching at 93 mph on southbound Highway 101 at 8:23 a.m., CHP Officer Jon Sloat said.

A CHP officer who was clearing debris on the highway stopped the rider, Sloat said.

The motorcyclist, Timothy Brown Jr., 26, said he panicked and didn’t want a ticket, according to the CHP. Brown was taken into custody on suspicion of reckless driving, evading and driving while unlicensed, Sloat said.

Brown had multiple prior speeding tickets and his license had been previously been suspended for negligent operation of a vehicle. His license had expired before Saturday, Sloat said.

The six officers and sergeant on the speed enforcement operation issued 50 citations, made two arrests and impounded three vehicles Saturday, Sloat said.
