San Rafael Police Bust Two Trying to Burglarize PG&E Substation

On-site cameras recorded two suspects, one with a crowbar, on the grounds, police said. Cops think they were trying to steal copper.

SAN RAFAEL, CA- Police arrested two Novato men on suspicion of burglarizing the PG&E substation in San Rafael Wednesday morning.

Police responded around 4:35 a.m. to an alarm at the substation on North Redwood Drive, Lt. Jim Correa said.

On-site cameras recorded two suspects, one with a crowbar, on the grounds. Sgt. Paul Aguilar located and took into custody a suspect with bolt cutters walking along a fence, Correa said.

The Marin County Sheriff’s Office and California Highway Patrol also responded to search the facility with police and a K-9 team and the second suspect was found later Wednesday morning, Correa said.

Paul Benetti, 23, and Brandon MacPherson, 20, both of Novato, were booked in the Marin County Jail on suspicion of burglary, possession of burglary tools, possession of methamphetamine and probation violation.
