San Rafael Rock Quarry Hearing Set for Tuesday

Mining operations at the San Rafael Rock Quarry on Point San Pedro Road will be considered by the Marin County Board of Supervisors at meetings over the next two weeks.

The Dutra Group, the quarry's owners, will present revised hours for processing rock as well as a new schedule for loading barges. It also will  show how it will rehabilitate the land once mining is completed.

Neighbors have been critical of the operation and of the board's oversight.

A public hearing is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Board of Supervisor's chambers in room 330 at the Marin County Civic Center. A second hearing is scheduled at 1:30 p.m.  Sept. 28.
