Things to do This Holiday Weekend

This week's three-day weekend gives San Rafael residents extra time to enjoy what's happening around the city. Here are some ideas to get you started.

Shakespeare daily

 Marin Shakespeare Company will be holding performances each day at the Forest Meadows Amphitheatre on the Dominican University of California campus. General admission tickets are $35; seniors are $30 and youths are $20 at the gate. Buy general or senior admission tickets online for $5 less.

"Antony and Cleopatra" plays at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Sunday and at 5 p.m. Monday.

Bring a picnic or buy food at a booth and enjoy one of the county's most treasured traditions.

Team work for artists

The TeamWorks art exhibit features collaborative works by students under the direction of teachers from the Marin Arts TeamWorks, a program that provides arts classes and mentoring opportunities to at-risk teens. The exhibit opens Friday and continues to Sept. 25.

The public is invited to the artist reception 6 to 8 p.m.  Sept. 10. The exhibit is presented at the Marin Arts Gallery, 906 4th Street, San Rafael. For more information call the Marin Arts Council at 466-2442 or visit  www.marinarts.org.

Films to catch

The Smith Rafael Film Center at 1118 Fourth St. is showing "Cairo Time," a romantic drama about a brief, unexpected love affair that catches two people by surprise. It stars the highly praised Patricia Clarkson and Alexander Siddig.

On Sunday, at noon the Rafael will feature a free showing of "everybody's favorite classic,"  "North by Northwest," starring Cary Grant and Eva Marie Saint.
