Voting Underway For Nov. 3 Election In Marin County

MARIN COUNTY, CA — Voting is underway for the Nov. 3 General Election in Marin County.
Ballots have been sent to registered voters in Marin, and mail ballot voting is taking place at the Elections Department in San Rafael.
Registered voters can visit the Elections Department in Suite 121 in Marin Civic Center to vote on a mail ballot between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. weekdays or until 8 p.m. on Election Day. The department will also be open the weekend before the election — from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 — to assist voters with registration and voting.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, only four people are allowed in the department at one time, and visitors are expected to wear a face covering and practice social distancing, according to the county.
Eligible prospective voters can still register by Oct. 19 to receive a ballot in the mail. After the deadline, prospective voters have to register and vote at the Elections Department or register online. During the late registration period from Oct. 20 through 8 p.m. Election Day, voters have to fill out ballots in the Elections Department or visit their polling place to register and vote using a provisional ballot when early voting starts Oct. 31.

Voting at polling places will be different this election. There will be fewer locations that are open three days before Election Day for eight hours and from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day, according to the county. Voters are assigned to a specific location and should contact the Elections Department if they have questions.
Vote-by-mail ballots must be postmarked on or before Election Day. Voters can also drop off their ballot at one of several drop-off boxes located throughout the county or at any polling place starting Oct. 31.
