Woman Pulls Knife On Officers, Vandalizes Marin Business: Police

Nadia Silvershine,​ a 57-year-old San Rafael resident,​​ allegedly pulled out a 2 ½-inch folding knife and demanded that officers kill her.

SAN RAFAEL, CA – A woman was arrested after vandalizing a business and waving a knife at police over the weekend in downtown San Rafael, authorities said.

Police received multiple reports around 8:36 p.m. Saturday about a woman screaming in downtown San Rafael. The woman allegedly broke a window at a business in the 1300 block of Fourth Street with a wine bottle and cooking pot, attempted to break another and fled the scene, San Rafael police Sgt. Justin Graham said.

Minutes later, police received another report that the woman, later identified as Nadia Silvershine, a 57-year-old San Rafael resident, was screaming in the 1100 block of Fourth Street. When police found her on the sidewalk and approached her, Silvershine allegedly pulled out a 2 ½-inch folding knife and demanded that officers kill her, Graham said.

Silvershine was arrested on suspicion of felony vandalism, brandishing a knife and obstructing an officer. She was booked into Marin County Jail.

No one was injured in the incident. The damage to the business was estimated at $500, Graham said.
