Coronavirus: UC Santa Cruz Student Tests Positive

The student is recovering well and was last on campus March 16, the University of California, Santa Cruz said.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — A University of California, Santa Cruz student tested positive Friday for the new coronavirus. The student, who lives off-campus, was last at UC Santa Cruz on March 16 and is recovering well, the university said.

The student has been self-isolating since being tested. Officials are working to see if others on campus had significant exposure to the student and have an increased risk of contracting the virus.

UC Santa Cruz said in a letter to the campus community that it is working closely with local officials and following state and federal guidelines.

Students who can call the Student Health Center at 831-459-2591 for information on telehealth, in-person appointments or self-care. Sick students who are not in Santa Cruz should seek care locally, the university said.

Employees who tested positive for the virus or were exposed to someone with coronavirus should email their supervisor and the Office of Emergency Services here, UC Santa Cruz said.
