How to Have an Awesome Eggnog Tasting Party
Which eggnog is the best to serve around the holidays? There's one easy and fun way to find out — have an eggnog tasting party!

If you’re anything like the people I first mentioned an eggnog tasting party to, you’re thinking to yourself: “Are there really that many different kinds of eggnog?”
Yes! In the local grocery store alone, I’ve seen:

- Golden eggnog
- Cinnamon eggnog
- Pumpkin eggnog
- Southern Comfort eggnog
- Soy eggnog
A trip to the local health food store yielded more soy eggnog but also organic eggnog and eggnog from a local farm.
With so many different kinds and brands to choose from, an eggnog tasting party is the way to go!

Ask each friend to bring a different kind of eggnog. Touch base via email or an online invitation to be sure you don’t end up with seven bottles of the same kind of eggnog.
Maybe one of those friends is particularly intrepid and will make their own eggnog! If that sounds like you, share your eggnog recipe in our virtual cookbook!
How to Score the Eggnog
You could keep it easy — scale of one to 10 — or you could get more specific and tally up numbers based on texture, flavor, amount of spice or how much it simply invokes the holidays with each sip.
And You Gotta Eat, Right?
Light finger foods are a great idea to serve at your eggnog tasting party (before or after the tasting) and will help cut the heaviness of the festive drink. Be sure to keep it simple!
Here’s some ideas:
- Cucumber finger sandwiches or cucumber slices with vegetable cream cheese on top
- Veggies and dip
- A light and easy fruit, like grapes
- Chocolate chip cookies for those with a sweet tooth
