• Knife-Wielding Man Shot, Killed By Police In Santa Monica, Police Say (patch.com) — Santa Monica police fatally shot a knife-wielding man in Palisades Park after he allegedly charged at officers during a response to a separate domestic violence call. Authorities say body-camera and nearby video are being reviewed, and portions of the park remain closed during the investigation. The police chief emphasized the seriousness of the loss of life and pledged a thorough review of the incident.
   

• SMPD Report Increased Proactive Activity, Major Arrests During July 26-Aug. 1 (smmirror.com) — Santa Monica police logged 2,413 calls and 120 arrests in a single week, driven by a big jump in officer-initiated activity across city streets, parks, and the beach. The report details major arrests tied to burglary, stalking with weapons and ammunition, sex-offender violations, homelessness outreach, and traffic enforcement in neighborhoods from Fourth Street to Palisades Park.
   

• Boxing News: Butterfly Brawl Early Results (fightnews.com) — A night of boxing at the Santa Monica Beach Pier saw several rising fighters stay undefeated, including a dominant debut by super flyweight Ilene Herrera, who won a shutout decision.
