Possible Carousel Returning to Parkway Plaza
In 2016, a possible new carousel is returning to Parkway Plaza.

In 2016, a 1926 Allan Herschell carousel will possibly return to Parkway Plaza in El Cajon.
It will be called “Poe’s Carousel,” it is named for Edgar Manson Poe Jr., a former optometrist at Sear’s in Parkway Plaza. Poe passed away on September 26, 2009, and the Old El Cajon carousel will be named for Poe.
Michael Tierney, the grandson of Edgar Manson Poe Jr remembers when the last time the Possible Carousel was at Parkway Plaza. “I remember that my grandpa took me to that historic carousel, it was great and I’m glad that carousel which possibly is coming back will be named for him.” said Tierney.

The carousel is owned by the Edgar and Virginia Poe Foundation, it was at Parkway Plaza from 1991 until 2003. In 2003, it got relocated to Elyria, Ohio then it came into storage. Historic Carousels, Inc. sold the carousel to the Edgar and Virginia Poe Foundation in 2015, to restore the carousel and Michael Tierney, who is a grandson of Edgar Manson Poe Jr., will be one of the operators.
