<p>A fireside chat with Sally Kohn and Martin Gobbee- Moderator.&nbsp; &nbsp;Sally a&nbsp;member of the queer community, is a nationally recognized television&nbsp;commentator, writer and executive presence coach working with top&nbsp;executives and political leaders.&nbsp; With her message of connection and&nbsp;compassion for all, Sally is an in-demand speaker worldwide. In fun and&nbsp;informative talks, filled with powerful personal stories and&nbsp;mind-blowing research, Sally helps teams and communities move past&nbsp;conflict to find their common ground.&nbsp; She leaves audiences feeling more&nbsp;empowered, hopeful and inspired.&nbsp; Sally's first book, THE OPPOSITE OF&nbsp;HATE was published in April 2018.&nbsp; She has three TED talks that have&nbsp;been viewed more than 6 million times.&nbsp;</p><p>Moderator Martin Gobbee is a&nbsp;local business Manager in hospitality, and a member of the Wake UP&nbsp;Sonoma Board. He and Sally have been friends for many years, and the two&nbsp;are having a reunion on stage with this fireside chat.&nbsp; He has a BA in&nbsp;history and a Master of Fine arts in acting from Brandeis University.</p>

<h3>About the Class</h3>
<p>Roll up your sleeves and join us for a special evening of “Trashion” Print Lab!<br><br>Our
 mission is to explore a creative arts technique socially with our 
community. Print Lab is not a traditional class, but an affordable 
art-making experience. We welcome you to print, play and experiment with
 an activity to create something unique in our printmaking studio!&nbsp;<br><br><strong>In honor of “Trashion Fashion” we are focusing on creative reuse, and sustainable printmaking!&nbsp;</strong><br><br>Tetra
 Pak printmaking is an eco-friendly and accessible art technique that 
repurposes used food and beverage cartons – like those for milk, juice, 
or broth, as printing plates. It is a form of intaglio printmaking 
(similar to drypoint etching), where you scratch or “incise” a design 
into the carton’s inner foil or plastic lining to create a printable 
surface. Carton printing is widely considered a highly sustainable 
alternative to traditional etching because it prioritizes creative reuse
 and non-toxic processes.<br><br>Recycle, repurpose and recreate! Learn 
how to turn garbage into beautiful prints! We will demonstrate how to 
draw, scratch, cut, ink and print carton surfaces on our presses with 
water-soluble etching inks. Guests will leave with their own prints they
 create! <strong><em>We have plenty of cartons to share, but we 
encourage guests to bring their own cleaned Tetra Pak’s and milk cartons
 to use or donate to the printmaking studio.</em></strong><br><br>No printmaking experience is necessary. Light refreshments will be provided.&nbsp;</p>

 mid-range soda firing with hands-on instruction in glazing, loading, 
and firing our crossdraft kiln, including demos and kiln care.

<h3>About the Class</h3>
<p>This
 workshop is an introduction to mid-range soda firing, with hands-on 
training in the process of loading, firing, and maintaining our 
crossdraft kiln named “Julia”.<br><br>Participants in this workshop will
 learn the fundamentals of atmospheric soda firing. The class will be 
instructed in the safety and care of the equipment as well as guided 
through the firing process.<br><br>This workshop includes instruction on
 glazing, wadding the ceramic pieces, loading the kiln, firing the kiln,
 and kiln maintenance. Demos and Lectures will also happen during the 
firing.<br><br>Participants will bring bisque-ware to be fired as bare 
clay or with slipped surfaces. There will be an assortment of flashing 
slips and glazes to apply to the bisqueware on loading day for those who
 choose to use them.&nbsp;<br><br>Each participant gets 1 cubic foot of firing space.<br><br>(Tip; Make sure all your pots fit approximately into a milk crate which is 1 cubic foot of space).<br><br>This firing will be a reduction fired cone 6 with sprayed soda at the end.&nbsp;</p>

foundational wheelthrowing technique.<br><br><strong>Body and Self-Care in the Studio</strong>:
 Start the day by learning essential practices for sustaining a long, 
healthy, and joyful pottery life. Amy will guide you through practical 
body-care strategies that promote alignment, ease, and comfort as you 
work—helping you prevent strain, reduce soreness, and feel more 
comfortable as you work.<br><br><strong>The Claw Pull Technique; </strong>In
 the afternoon, you’ll dive into Amy’s signature Claw Pull—the 
foundational technique first pull that moves a lot of clay and sets you 
up for strong, even-walled cylinders. Through demonstration, guided 
practice, and personalized feedback, you’ll begin building the muscle 
memory and confidence to integrate this transformative technique into

<p>The
 culmination of Trashion Fashion events season is the free wrap up party
 called “Trash Bash”&nbsp;which takes&nbsp;place at the Sonoma Community Center.<br><br>Attendees
 will have the rare opportunity to see all of the Trashion Runway Show 
outfits up-close, as well as meet with and talk to the designers.&nbsp;The 
Runway Show winners will be announced, and a final exciting bid call for
 the Trashion Barbies &amp; Bags Auction will take place.<br><br>To 
complete the efforts of waste management mindfulness, Trash Bash 
attendees will be able to visit with Sonoma County waste management 
organizations, and shop with local Sonoma County sustainability 
businesses and upcycling artists.</p>

<h4>Blending classical ballet with folklórico traditions, Por la Luz de la Luna celebrates the beauty and richness of Mexican heritage while honoring the experiences of Mexican Americans. This is a story of identity, courage, and family, shining a light on the enduring power of traditions passed from one generation to the next.</h4>
<p>This original ballet libretto was inspired by award-winning author and arts activist Aida Salazar’s story of her great-aunt, Jovita Valdovinos, who fought for religious freedom in Mexico’s Cristero War in the 1930s. Por la Luz de la Luna brings a fictional account of Jovita’s story to life, weaving history, mythology, and family legacy into a powerful theatrical experience while celebrating her heroism. As one of the few Mexican-themed ballets in history, it creates a space for dancers of all backgrounds to portray Latina/o characters, highlighting unique stories and honoring Mexican and Mexican-American heritage on stage. Set to 20th-century Mexican classical music by composers such as Carlos Chávez and José Pablo Moncayo, the ballet is brought to life through striking sets and Aztec-inspired costumes designed by visual artist PEMEX. It premiered on April 9, 2016, at the Sebastiani Theatre and continues to be a highlight of the company’s repertory.</p>
