Car Strikes Two Women Walking With Spouses, One Killed
A collision killed one women and injured another who were visiting Sonoma with their spouses.
SONOMA VALLEY, CA — A vehicle-pedestrian collision left one woman dead and another critically injured.
The collision was reported shortly before 7 p.m. Tuesday in the 600 block of Broadway, according to the Sonoma Police Department.
The critically injured woman was 73 years old. Despite life-saving efforts, she died at the scene, police said.

A second pedestrian, a 74-year-old woman, was seriously injured and transported to a regional trauma hospital, where she remains in critical but stable condition, according to police.
The women were believed to be part of a group visiting from out of town that had been staying at an area hotel, the Press Democrat reported. Their spouses were walking behind the two women, but were not physically injured, police said, according to the Press Democrat. They were crossing between Napa and South MacArthur streets, but were not in the crosswalk, police said.

Authorities have not identified the women or the driver, who stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, police said.
The driver was traveling northbound when the vehicle struck the women, according to police, who said speeding, drugs, and alcohol do not appear to have contributed to the accident.
Broadway was closed for approximately four hours while investigators documented the scene.
Passers-by said on social media that they watched stunned as first responders on the scene treated the women. "I feel for their heartache," one woman wrote on Facebook.
