The NorCal Regionals were held at the Santa Rosa Fairgrounds last weekend. Men and women from Santa Cruz to Redding competed in the Sport of Fitness to test themselves in this grinding competition. On Saturday Jason Khalipa broke the world record performing 200 body weight movements in 20:18. On Sunday Khalipa won the men's division. It was pretty stirring when all of the contestants collapsed at the end. Local Nick Pappas fought for every inch during the axle carry, taking a few steps, dropping the weights and trying to catch his breath. The other competitors rallied to his side shouting "pick up that bar!", the crowd was on their feet cheering him on. An inspirational moment, thank you for your hard work and dedication Nick. It makes me proud to count myself as a part of the CrossFit community. This same kind of encouragement takes place in the local box (CrossFit gym). I am glad my 12 yr old son got to experience a moment like this and to see what true sportsmanship is.
