It only took two days for the County Office of Elections to validate the signatures on our petition...and we're now headed for an election. The City Council could decide to adopt the measure outright...but it's highly unlikely.
So, our Grassroots campaign is about to begin...and our many supporters are the roots! We'll be posting information about volunteer opportunities, exciting fund-raisers (we've got some great and entertaining plans!), and how the community can participate in our local democracy.
So many people feel voiceless and helpless about having an impact on their local community policy decisions, but now all have an opportunity to regain the dignity and power of citizenship. This fall all voices will matter, and can change the nature of Sonoma's future from one of crowded over-development to preserving our small town character for those who live here. Visitors and their dollars are nice, but can't replace the quality of life that we enjoy...Preserving Sonoma likes small, and we think the majority of voters in Sonoma like small too!
