Meet Sonoma Council Candidates At Chamber Gathering (patch.com) — Sonoma residents will have a chance to meet three District 1 City Council candidates in an informal setting at the Swiss Hotel on Sept. 29. Hosted by the Sonoma Valley Chamber, the gathering includes brief remarks and one-on-one conversations with candidates and current councilmembers about issues affecting local families, businesses, and neighborhoods.
   

2. Free Fundraising Dinner For Nepal Flood Victims (sonomasun.com) — Sonoma neighbors are invited to a free fundraising dinner on Sept. 22 at Sonoma Veterans Memorial Hall to support Nepal flood relief, with local restaurants and wineries donating food and wine. Organized by the longtime Sherpa community in Sonoma Valley, the event encourages voluntary donations that will be sent through the California Sherpa Association directly to Nepal's official disaster relief fund.
   

3. Grupo Folklórico Quetzalén of Sonoma Valley performing in Southland festival Sept. 19 (sonomanews.com) — Sonoma Valley's Grupo Folklórico Quetzalén, led by Treasure Artist Victor Ferrer and made up largely of Sonoma Valley High students, is heading to a prestigious statewide festival in Pomona. After their Mexican Independence Day performance on Sonoma Plaza was canceled, the group is fundraising hard to cover travel costs and is inviting locals to chip in through an online campaign.
   

4. Sonoma City Council: Flock sharing restrictions coming (pressdemocrat.com) — Sonoma's City Council is tightening how police share Flock license-plate camera footage while still allowing case-by-case investigative requests, following a recent homicide investigation. Councilmembers also approved new public art fees on most larger developments, expanded Zoom access for residents with disabilities, and adopted a hazard mitigation plan that keeps Sonoma eligible for federal disaster-prevention grants.
   

5. Investing in Safety: Measure H is Reshaping Sonoma County Wildfire Defense (norcalpublicmedia.org) — Sonoma residents are seeing their Measure H tax dollars at work as crews build fuel breaks and carry out vegetation management across Sonoma County to reduce wildfire risk. A new audio episode tours active and planned projects with fire officials, explaining how roughly $60 million a year is being spent to protect local communities and roads.
