The workshop at the Railroad Avenue district office will also cover school visits, communication with staff, and public statements, alongside a closed-session evaluation of Superintendent Jason Sutter.

Details In Bankruptcy Of California's Oldest Family Winery: Report (patch.com) — Sonoma Valley's Gundlach Bundschu, California's oldest continuously family-owned winery, has entered Chapter 11 bankruptcy after heavy debt from a Glen Ellen expansion and a pandemic-era wine sales slump. The Bundschu family may lose majority control as they seek a new investor, with the Abbot's Passage facility already closed and the Glen Ellen property expected to shut down soon.

Sonoma to Celebrate Installation of Cycles 3 on Sonoma Plaza (Press Release) (sonomacity.org) — Sonoma locals are invited to Sonoma Plaza on Thursday, October 1, for a 4:30 p.m. gathering celebrating the permanent installation of "Cycles 3," a nature-themed sculpture by Sonoma artist Peter Hassen. The free event leads right into the October Sonoma Art Walk, with nearby galleries, tasting rooms, and Modern Art West hosting receptions and artist showcases around the Plaza.

SUPES Plan Press Conference On Abusive Language (sonomasun.com) — Sonoma County residents should know supervisors are holding a press conference Monday, Sept. 28, at noon outside the county administration building in Santa Rosa to address racist, abusive remote comments at public meetings. Local leaders will urge state lawmakers to tweak SB 707 so boards can curb disruptive online remarks while still allowing residents to watch meetings and submit comments by mail, email, or in person.
   

5. Sonoma County's Sheriff's Office watchdog marks 10 years as new reports weigh gains and setbacks (pressdemocrat.com) — Sonoma residents are seeing renewed scrutiny of the Sheriff's Office as the county's Independent Office of Law Enforcement Review and Outreach marks its 10th year and releases new audits, including one examining a deputy shooting of a Sonoma Valley man. The reports highlight improved accountability but ongoing disputes over subpoenas and records access, and they'll be discussed at upcoming public meetings and a Sonoma County Board of Supervisors session.
