NORTH BAY, CA — A 40-year-old Sonoma woman accused of stabbing her boyfriend Monday night was caught and arrested early this morning in Napa after the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office put out a BOLO — "be on the lookout" — alert to neighboring law enforcement agencies.

The stabbing was reported at about 9 p.m. in the 29000 block of Skaggs Island Road in Sonoma, according to Sonoma County sheriff's Sgt. Spencer Crum. Deputies were en route to the scene when they located the victim, a 37-year-old Sonoma man, as he was being treated by a Sonoma Valley Fire Department ambulance crew.

"The victim had been in the process of being transported by a relative to the hospital when the ambulance crew found them and started tending to his injury," Crum said.

Deputies learned the victim and his girlfriend, identified by authorities as 40-year-old Idalia Cortez-Acosta, were in an argument when she stabbed him once in his left arm, Crum said.

When deputies went to the couple's home on Skaggs Island Road, Cortez-Acosta was not there, having driven the victim's 1998 red Chevy Cavalier to flee the scene, according to the sheriff's office.

Detectives responded and processed the home for evidence.

Detectives also put out a be-on-the-lookout teletype to all neighboring law enforcement agencies, beginning an "all-night search" for Cortez-Acosta.

At about 6 a.m. Tuesday, the Napa Police Department called the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office and advised they'd located and detained Cortez-Acosta; she was in the Chevy on Browns Valley Road in Napa.

"Deputies brought her back to Sonoma County for questioning and ultimately booked her for felony domestic violence and assault with a deadly weapon," Crum said.

Cortez-Acosta's bail was set at $110,000 pending a court appearance set for Thursday.

"The victim was transported to a local hospital where he is expected to fully recover from his injury," Crum said.
