$880,000 Project Aimed at Treating Contaminated Well

The City Council will consider awarding a contract that would result in the construction of a water treatment system that has become infected by iron and manganese.

Today’s meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. and will take up several topics of interest to South Gate. Here are four of the most important happenings on the agenda:

  1. The City Council will consider awarding a construction contract to Atlas Allied for the Well No. 27 Treatment System Project at a cost of $883, 860. This well is located on Tweedy Boulevard and was built in 1989. Water at this well has been infected by iron and manganese contaminants from the surrounding soil. This project includes the building of a water treatment system that would remove these contaminants from the water.
  2. The City Council will consider accepting a resolution that will support Senate Bill 1185. The latter would create a Centralized Intelligence Partnership to fight the underground economy in the state.
  3. The City Council will consider using $80,000 from the Park Enhancement Fund to replace the Jacuzzi at the South Gate Sports Center.
  4. The City Council will decide upon a resolution that would determine that Ronald Corbet, a police officer, is incapacitated and that his disability resulted from his employment. This would in turn authorize the Public Employees Retirement System to process his dsability retirement application.

Resident who wish to speak on a topic during the meeting should arrive early and speak at the allotted times.
