Flu Has Arrived in San Mateo County

The Health Department reports the first positive test for influenza this flu season.

The San Mateo County Health System reported Monday the first positive test for influenza this flu season.

According to the report, β€œWithin the County, a total of 130 specimens have been tested for influenza since the beginning of flu season, only one of which tested positive for influenza.’

Statewide, one influenza death was reported in a person under the age of 65 during the same time period.

Flu shots are still readily available from health care providers, and at retail stores from pharmacies to supermarkets.
