Hwy 280 Crash Causes Backup

The crash caused a hazardous leak.

An accident and transmission fluid spill blocked the right lane on Interstate Highway 280 in South San Francisco this afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officers responded to a report of an accident involving two vehicles on southbound Highway 280 just south of Westborough Boulevard shortly after 1 p.m., CHP officials said.

About 1 gallon of transmission fluid spilled on the roadway and CalTrans was called to clean it up, according to the CHP.

A Sig-alert was issued at 1:45 p.m. closing the right lane.

No injuries were reported.
