Temecula Student Struck By Car, Released From Hospital: Update

This week, a student of Rancho Christian School was struck crossing Temecula Parkway at Rancho Community Way and taken to the hospital.

TEMECULA, CA—A student at Rancho Christian School who was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street Thursday has returned home, school officials say.

Shortly before 8 a.m., emergency responders arrived at the scene of Temecula Parkway and Kevin Place/Rancho Community Way, where the juvenile was struck, according to Sheriff's Department spokesperson Sgt. Deirdre Vickers.
"Upon arrival, deputies located a juvenile in the roadway, and the driver remained at the scene," Vickers said.

The child was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital in stable condition, and no arrests were made.

After a car struck the child, school officials are seeking new ways to keep their students safe. They released a statement about the incident to Patch:

"On the morning of Thursday, November 14, a Rancho Christian School student was involved in a traffic incident at the intersection of Temecula Parkway and Rancho Community Way while crossing the street.

Emergency services responded immediately, and the student was transported to the hospital for evaluation and treatment. We are relieved to share that the student was discharged and is recovering at home.

"Rancho Christian School places the highest priority on student safety. As a proactive measure, a crossing guard will now be present at the crosswalk before and after school.

"Additionally, we will be working with the City of Temecula to explore further safety improvements at the intersection. We appreciate the quick response of first responders and the support from our community.
