Lanes of I-880 Reopen After Big-Rig Crash Near San Mateo-Hayward Bridge
The big-rig driver had been trapped inside of the cab and was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

All lanes of Interstate Highway 880 in Hayward reopened this afternoon after a crash between a big-rig and two cars closed a lane of the highway in both directions, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported at 11:39 a.m. near the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge. The big-rig crashed into the highway’s center divider, smashing concrete into the roadway, according to the CHP. The front cab was almost completely detached from the truck’s trailer and the driver was trapped inside. The driver was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
The truck also leaked about 10-15 gallons of fuel onto the roadway, and lanes of the highway in both directions were closed for the cleanup, according to the CHP. All lanes of the highway reopened just before 3 p.m.
