• Heat advisory active for Central California Wednesday and Thursday, says the NWS (sacbee.com) — Visalia is under a National Weather Service heat advisory from Wednesday at 10 a.m. through Thursday at 10 p.m., with highs near 102 and warm overnight lows. Residents are urged to rely on real air conditioning, stay hydrated, avoid midday exertion, and check on vulnerable neighbors, children, and pets. 
• 'Learn Without Limits' campaign for CA's young readers goes live (publicnewsservice.org) — Students at Monson-Sultana Elementary, just outside Visalia, are getting a new book-vending machine starting Sept. 8, letting kids earn free books with school achievements. The Save the Children "Learn Without Limits" campaign aims to boost early reading skills, especially for rural students who often face poverty, food insecurity, and limited childcare options across Tulare County and beyond.
