"The City of Walnut Creek today lifted the overnight curfew that had been in effect since Sunday evening.

"The curfew was in response to acts of vandalism, theft and violence on the evening of May 31. Thank you to all who observed the curfew, and to those who have joined forces to help the community repair and rebuild areas of the downtown damaged last weekend.

"The City supports peaceful protest as a fundamental right that is vital to the health of our democracy. Today's rally and demonstration throughout downtown Walnut Creek was an example of our City residents having their voices heard, while respecting the rights of others.
