• Costly Gas Prices Hits Contra Costa Animal Rescue (patch.com) — Rising gas prices are squeezing Joybound People and Pets, the Walnut Creek-based animal rescue that drives adoptable pets and mobile vet services throughout Contra Costa County and across California. Higher fuel costs are significantly increasing monthly expenses for each vehicle, but the group says it must keep making intake trips, mobile adoption visits, and free vaccination clinics that support local families and shelters.

A new SPUR report warns that deep cuts to BART, Muni, and Caltrain could push thousands back into cars, doubling Bay Bridge delays and worsening gridlock at key chokepoints across the region.
