She's Back! Walnut Creek Police Dog Back on Duty After Stabbing

Sheyna was stabbed several times by a suspect.

WALNUT CREEK, CA — A Walnut Creek Police K9 who was stabbed in the line of duty last month returned to work today.

K9 Sheyna was deployed to take down a suspect who had already been involved in a hit-and-run accident with a pedestrian, and had crash head-on into a police SUV that was trying to stop him, according to police. Tasers and a bean-bag shot gun were also used on the suspect, 33-year-old Rolando Gonzalez of Walnut Creek, police said at the time of the arrest.

In addition to Sheyna, a police officer, pedestrian and Good Samaritan were injured, as well as the suspect.
