A deadly officer-involved shooting; a stolen puppy is recovered; afiery crash claims a life; and a man passed out and died while driving.

EAST BAY, CA – The following is a week's collection of weekly police, court and fire stories from around the East Bay.

Firefighters had to use 4-wheel drive vehicles to reach the remote blaze.

The blaze was "the largest fire of the season to date and an early indicator of what is to come with Red Flag conditions this weekend."

The officer-involved shooting happened around 5 p.m. Sunday on Arlene Lane.

The shooting happened Sunday after the man threatened his grandmother, mom, neighbor and police.

Officers, a drone and a K9 were used to hunt for two suspects, who were arrested.

The puppy was recovered on Saturday.

He drifted across oncoming traffic and came to rest when he hit a parked car on the opposite side of the street.

She was trapped in the backseat of a car and had to be cut out. Several people were hurt.

The suspect was eventually caught and arrested after being spotted in a drainage ditch, according to Danville police.

The chase started around 6:30 a.m. as officers from the Danville Police Department attempted to make a traffic stop on a stolen vehicle.

Police have released photos of two men and their pickup.

Master Tenant Derick Almena is expected to testify for 2 or 3 days on his own behalf.

He is accused of impersonating an officer in both cities.

Police believe the shootout is gang related.
