Walnut Creek Bank Robbed At Gunpoint

Police say the suspect drove eastbound in the westbound lanes of traffic on Treat Boulevard to get away from pursuing officers. (Breaking)

WALNUT CREEK, CA — Walnut Creek Police are searching for the man who robbed the Chase Bank at 1895 Ygnacio Valley Rd. Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. Police say the man pulled up his shirt to reveal a handgun in the waistband of his pants and demanded money.

He is described as a white man in his early to mid 50’s with grey hair and a mustache. He was wearing a white shirt and black hat. A photo of the suspect has not been released.

According to a written report by Lt. Joe Donleavy, "Approximately thirty minutes later, a Walnut Creek Police Officer spotted a male matching the description of the robbery suspect in the parking lot of the Countrywood Shopping Center located at the corner of Bancroft Rd. and Treat Bl. As the officer attempted to contact the male, he got into a blue, early 90’s, Chevy pick-up truck and fled onto Treat Bl. Walnut Creek Police Officers pursued the truck briefly before terminating the pursuit when the driver began driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of traffic on Treat Bl."
