Walnut Creek Cops Bust Couple Allegedly Making Phony Credit Cards At Motel 6

The man and woman were arrested during a probation search.

Walnut Creek police conducting a probation search arrested two Castro Valley residents on Saturday after discovering equipment used to make fraudulent credit cards, police said.

Around 8:30 a.m., police conducted a probation search at Motel 6, located at 2389 N. Main St.

Police said the officers found a man and a woman in possession of blank and altered credit cards, embossing and encoding machines, laptop computers and paperwork containing the personal identification information of numerous potential victims, police said.

Officers arrested Jessica Shaw, 24, and Kent Gary, 25, on suspicion of five felony charges related to identity theft and credit card fraud.

Police said it appears that Shaw and Gary were arrested before they were able to use the information locally to make fraudulent purchases.
