WCPD Bomb Squad Blows Up Device In Martinez
A resident there found a pipe bomb on his property Tuesday.
MARTINEZ, CA — An active pipe bomb was removed from a property in Martinez Tuesday morning, police said.
A resident in the 2300 block of Wayne Street reported finding a pipe bomb on his property at about 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, according to police. He moved the device to the street and called police.
The Walnut Creek bomb squad arrived and rendered the device safe by detonating it in a controlled way.

Additional black powder was also rendered safe, according to police.
The immediate area was evacuated, and no one was injured and no properties were damaged.

Officers cleared the scene shortly before 2 p.m.
Police do not know how long the device was on the property.
