City's Field Services to Start Clifford Ave. Water Main Project

The City’s Field Services Division of the Public Works & Utilities Department will be starting a new project in September.  The crew will be replacing the water main on Clifford Avenue.

Where is the project located?

The project is taking place on Clifford Avenue from Pennsylvania Avenue to Claremont Avenue so expect traffic delays and detours.  Parking on the eastern side of Clifford between the project boundaries will be closed, so please make necessary preparations.

When will the project be completed?

The project is expected to begin in the middle of September and finish in middle of November.

What is being done?
  • Installation – one thousand five hundred forty feet (1,540′) of new 8″ ductile iron water main.
  • New residential services.
  • New hydrants and system isolation valves.
Why is this being done?

The current Clifford water main in this area is well over 50 years old and historically has had some major mainline breaks. The new water main will reinforce our water system in this area by reducing system disruptions, improving water quality, and increasing system reliability.

Who is doing the work?

The City’s Field Services Division will be fulfilling all design and construction aspects of this project. The project map shows the area where construction will take place.
