Elderly Man Fights Off Robber With Cane, Suspect Sought: WPD

The suspect is described as a man in his 20s with combed back hair, who was wearing a black t-shirt and blue jeans during the attack.

WATSONVILLE, CA — Watsonville police are searching for a would-be thief caught on surveillance video trying to rob a 70-year-old man in broad daylight. The suspect was prowling outside a restaurant in the 500 block of Auto Center Drive last month when the victim walked out of the business and was accosted by the attacker. The robber tried grabbing the man's wallet and car keys, but the victim fended him off with his cane, the video shows.

The suspect ran away and left the busy shopping center on a bike. The victim, who fell to the ground during the attack, was treated and released from a hospital with minor injuries, according to police.
