Manhattan or Boston? Deadline To Enter SC Boardwalk Chowder Cook-Off Is Monday

Event date is Feb. 21 and open to public. This is an important fund-raiser for City of Santa Cruz Parks and Recreation Department.

If you like clam chowder, you’ll love this fun event. Chat with chefs as they prepare their chowders, and enjoy their creative booths.

Admission is free, you can sample 5 clam chowders for $9. Proceeds benefit Santa Cruz Parks & Rec.

If you think you have a winning recipe, the deadline for chefs is February 9.

Cook-Off Schedule

  • 10:00am Tasting Kits go on sale
  • 10:00am-11:00am Preparation period (no heat)
  • 11:00am-1:00pm Cooking period
  • 1:00pm Public tasting begins
  • 4:00pm Winners announced at the Beach Amphitheater

Enter a Team

The competition features four categories:

  • Amateur Boston
  • Amateur Manhattan
  • Professional Boston
  • Professional Manhattan

Awards will be given for Best Clam Chowder in each category, plus People’s Choice, Most Tasted, and Most Original Booth. Awards include plaques, cash prizes, round trip airfare courtesy of United Airlines, and bragging rights!
