What's On Tap for Watsonville's Freedom Boulevard Reconstruction Project

Phase one begins Monday. Expect delays!

WATSONVILLE, CA – Expect traffic delays on Freedom Boulevard beginning Monday, Nov. 28 through Friday, Dec. 23 as work on the reconstruction of Freedom continues.

Traffic signals between Broadis Street and Alta Vista Avenue will be flashing red during this time, officials said.

Phase 1: Monday, Nov. 28 through Friday Dec. 9

Northbound Lanes Closed for Duration of Work (24 hours per day). Traffic control measures will include closing the northbound lanes between Broadis Street and Alta Vista Avenue.

Traffic will be shifted beginning at Prospect Street on the south end of the project and at Arthur Road at the north end of the project limits. Lincoln Street will be closed to southbound traffic between Freedom and Prospect.

The following streets will be closed to all traffic at Freedom Blvd:

  • at Broadis St.
  • at Laurel St.
  • at Sycamore St.
  • Martinelli St. and Crestview Dr. will alternate closure

All driveways that access Freedom Blvd. directly will be closed for the duration of the work.

Phase 2: Monday, Dec. 12 through Thursday, Dec. 22

Southbound Lanes Closed for Duration of Work (24 hours per day. Traffic Control measures will include closing the southbound lanes between Mariposa Avenue and Broadis Street. Traffic will be shifted beginning at Lincoln Street on the south end of the project and at Arthur Road at the north end of the project limits.

The following streets will be closed to all traffic at Freedom Blvd:

  • at Alta Vista Ave.
  • at Marin St.

All driveways that access Freedom Blvd. directly will be closed for the duration of the work.

Motorists, cyclists and pedestrians are encouraged to use alternate routes during this busy construction time. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause and do appreciate your patience while we work to improve this highly traveled roadway.
