Here are the latest news updates about the new coronavirus in Arvada.

ARVADA, CO — The Arvada City Council has extended the city's emergency declaration to April 30. The city has also extended the closure of its facilities to April 26.

Arvada City Manager Mark Deven declared the state of emergency March 13. The declaration gives the city the flexibility to "quickly acquire and apply resources to support residents and partners," officials said.

The Arvada Fire Protection District declared a local disaster emergency Monday amid the spread of the new coronavirus. The declaration will remain in effect for seven days, unless extended by the district's board of directors.

The governor has also announced a statewide recommendation for everyone to wear cloth face masks when leaving their homes. The City of Arvada said it "fully supports this recommendation."

"The City team is acquiring cloth masks for all employees, with a priority given to securing masks for public safety and other public-facing members of the team first," officials said in a services update.

The City of Arvada has postponed or canceled many activities, classes and events through April 26; however, the West Woods and Lake Arbor golf courses are set to open Friday, as health officials determined people are able to golf under the state's social distancing guidelines. The courses will operate on a reduced schedule and all practice facilities will be closed until further notice, city officials said.
