1. Aurora advances permanent water restrictions, as reservoirs fall to nearly half of normal levels. (cbsnews.com) — Aurora officials are moving toward permanent water restrictions after reservoirs dropped to just 43% of capacity, roughly half their usual level. Proposed rules would ban most outdoor spray irrigation from October through April, limit new lawns and ornamental water features, and restrict water‑intensive cooling systems in new developments, with a final City Council vote expected later this month.
   

2. Aurora lawmakers advance plan to limit 'socioeconomic impact' businesses in centers (sentinelcolorado.com) — Aurora lawmakers have given initial approval to new spacing rules that would limit how closely vape shops, liquor stores, pawnshops and similar "socioeconomic impact" businesses can cluster in shopping centers. If finalized, the ordinance would require hundreds of Aurora businesses to obtain permits, spread targeted shops farther apart, and aim to reduce crime and blight in vulnerable neighborhoods without closing existing stores.
   

3. Aurora weighs costs, accountability after last month's "teen takeover" in the Colorado city (cbsnews.com) — Aurora officials are still dealing with the fallout from a late-August youth gathering that drew about 1,000 people, led to vandalism and theft, and required more than 70 officers to disperse the crowd. Police have already arrested several juveniles, are reviewing costs of the large response, and are considering how to hold organizers accountable while stressing that future events of this size need permits.
   

4. Aurora council repeals mandatory minimum jail sentences (denvergazette.com) — Aurora's City Council has moved to repeal mandatory minimum jail sentences from the city code after Colorado Supreme Court rulings found some of the city's penalties unconstitutional. The change, which still needs a final vote, would bring Aurora's theft and trespass penalties in line with state law and end previously required minimum jail time for certain retail thefts.
   

5. Driver, passenger arrested in Aurora after leading police on a 100 mph chase (kktv.com) — A high-speed chase that began in Aurora with a stolen Cadillac Escalade hit speeds over 100 mph and forced police to end their ground pursuit for safety while state patrol aircraft tracked the vehicle. Troopers later arrested the driver, identified as 28-year-old Thomas Martinez, and a passenger in Denver, highlighting how automated license plate readers and air support are being used in Aurora-related cases.
