Boulder Cyclist Critically Injured In Collision With Deer

A 60-year-old woman sustained life-threatening injuries on Sunshine Canyon Drive, the Boulder County Sheriff's Office said.

BOULDER COUNTY, CO — A 60-year-old Boulder woman suffered life-threatening injuries in what authorities believe was a collision with a deer Saturday morning at 4000 Sunshine Canyon Drive, the Boulder County Sheriff's Office said. An off-duty firefighter found the injured cyclist unconscious at about 8:30 a.m.

The woman was transported by helicopter to an area hospital.

A preliminary investigation and evidence showed a deer was likely involved in the crash.

"At this time, it does not appear that any motor vehicles were involved in the crash and there are no suspicious circumstances," Sergeant Clay Leak said in a media release.

"Due to the severity of her injuries, the victim’s identifying information is not being released at this time," Leak said.
