Boulder Rents Jump Again At One Of The Country's Fastest Rates

BOULDER, CO -- A December report from the rental website Adobo ranked Boulder with one of the highest rates of rental price increase in the country last month. The monthly reports had showed a dip in area prices over the summer, but this month made up for it with a 7.3 percent increase in the price of a one-bedroom apartment in Boulder. That hike slotted in as the fourth-biggest rate jump nationwide, trailing only Jacksonville, Florida; Nashville, Tennessee; and Savannah, Georgia.

The increase means that a one-bedroom in Boulder will now set the median renter back $1,901, making it one of the ten most expensive cities to rent in across the country. San Francisco still tops that list by a large margin, but it is worth noting that of the other top-priced communities, none of Boulder's peers experienced greater than a 4.5 percent rate increase, and some even saw incremental decreases over the last month.

Boulder's rates continue to be striking – the next most-expensive Colorado community was Denver with a median one-bedroom rental rate more than 25 pecent lower than Boulder's at $1398. The outlook is a bit sunnier for Boulder's budget-minded renters who are willing to take on a roommate - in December, the median two-bedroom rate in Boulder was just over $100 more than the one-bedroom rate at $2,005.
